Senators received and accepted the 05.01.2024 curricular items through the consent calendar. A motion was made to add the French and German Language program to the consent calendar. Motion passed and the new consent calendar item was received and accepted along with the other curricular consent items. Special reports were received regarding: 1) the Midterm Policy, from Ad hoc Committee and Replacement Policy Co-Chairs, Amy Bergerson, Associate Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education and Mandy Euen, University Registrar; 2) the 兔子先生 Mission Statement, from聽Amy Bergerson, Associate Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education, and Gwen Fears, Assistant VP for Student Life - Assessment, Planning, and Transition; 3) an ASG Overview, from Nyah Smith, President of Associated Student Government, and Jack Isphording Chief of Staff; and 4)聽Grad Students, from Nelchi Prashali, and Katie Stahlhut.聽With approval of the University Senate meeting minutes for April 29, 2024, three Senate Resolutions were approved. Senators voted to approve continued work on filling committee appointments over the summer.

Senators heard from Amity Noltemeyer, Interim EHS Dean and Professor, regarding a proposed EHS TCPL cap increase, from Tracy Haynes on the proposed Senate Attendance Policy, and from Jason Abbitt, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, regarding the administration of graduate awards. Senators discussed four items of old business.

Senators heard from Nicholas Money regarding an Individualized Studies, Bachelor of Philosophy proposal, and from Michael Crowder regarding proposals to revise the registration policy and doctoral time limit policy. Senators discussed two items of old business.

Senators heard an update from Provost Mullenix on 兔子先生 Online and eCampus. Announcements were made regarding the planned listening sessions for Deans evaluations and the upcoming Budget Symposium. New business included a presentation on the proposal for an Applied Mathematics Bachelor of Science program. Special reports were received regarding the 兔子先生 University Fund Policy and 兔子先生THRIVE Committee selections.聽聽

Senators heard a preliminary presentation regarding potential program consolidations and a proposal on the recording of two minute speeches before Senate. Special reports were received regarding the Honors College and a proposal for a Center for Global Mental Health in Sports. Provost Mullenix provided brief updates.

Senators approved several consent calendar items and received a special report from Senior Associate Provost Carolyn Haynes regarding rationale for the elimination of select programs. Senators were provided updates on the Department Planning and Improvement Process. Dr. Leighton Peterson presented additional details regarding the revised 兔子先生 Plan. Vice President and Dean, Dr. Ande Durojaiye, presented updates regarding VORA Technology Park plans.

Senators received several consent calendar items and opted to pull two items on the topics of 1) elimination of majors from curricular items and 2) department planning and improvement. Senators received special reports on the Ryan Center proposal, management of conflicts of interest in projects with external funding, and heard a proposal regarding the Department of Comparative Religion's recommendations concerning their department's planned elimination. In new business, Senators heard a proposal regarding a proposed Master of Engineering program in Mechanical and Smart Manufacturing Engineering.

Minutes of the University Senate meeting from December 4, 2023 were approved. Senate received the Graduate Council Minutes from December 5, 2023 on the Consent Calendar. The following resolutions were passed: SR 24-06 Graduate Assistantship Policy Proposal SR 24-07 EDP-Counselor Education-Master of Education Two special reports were presented: Brooke Flinders provided an introduction to her role as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs. Mark Krafft, Partner for Bain and Company, presented a summary of the Senate Retreat Focus Group Input from the January 22, 2024 retreat session. Updates regarding low-enrolled majors and the Pan-Humanities Workshop were provided by Provost Mullenix.

Senators heard two proposals for new business including changes to the Graduate Assistantship Policy and a new Master of Education Degree in Counselor Education (EDP). Two special reports were heard. One on the Rinella Learning Center from Christina Carrubba-Whetstine, Director of the Miller Center for Student Disability Services and Learning Center and another on the AI Workshop by David Seidl, Vice President for Information Technology and CIO.
