Safeguarding mammals in northern Sri Lanka

Olivia Johnson

Current Global Field Program (GFP) graduate student Olivia Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, published . On KPCRC's website she shares about the diversity of medium-to-large mammals in the Kaludiyapokuna Forest Reserve in Sri Lanka’s north central province. Not heavily trafficked by people and tourism, the Reserve "is vital for researchers to understand the vanishing wildlife and wild places in Sri Lanka, and how they can be better protected in the future," she writes. "Through education and community-based conservation, the KPCRC is contributing towards safeguarding these species, one day at a time."

As a student in ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú's biology department, Johnson is earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Biology through Project Dragonfly's GFP while working as a senior primate animal caretaker at Oklahoma City Zoo.
