Cheyenne Partridge is a first-generation student at the Regionals studying Integrative Studies. Patridge shared what being #FirstGenProud means to her. "It is a gift to be the first in my family to achieve associates with honors and work towards a bachelor's degree. I feel I'm making my family proud by completing these large milestones. I am extremely proud to be a ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Regionals student."
Lisa Sims is a 2007 graduate of Preble Shawnee High School, majoring in forensic investigation. Sims shared what lessons she's learned as a #FirstGen. "Being a first-generation student has taught me that I can do whatever I set my mind to and to never give up on myself. My professors and coaches at the regionals have been a big support."
First-generation student Rebekah Snyder says "Being a first-generation student means that I'm proud to work towards furthering my education and working towards a nursing degree. I've had helpful professors who gave me study strategies and calmed my nerves while taking tests."
First-Generation student Pamela Martinez, majoring in social work/criminal justice, talks about what it means to her to be #FirstGenProud. "It means that I am creating a dream come true. I am changing my whole family by showing them that anything is possible with perseverance, resiliency, strength, and compassion. I am honored to be the first in my family to be able to provide my family with a better future."
Skylar Gries, Environmental Science major shares what he's learned as a first-gen student, "I've learned new things my family never experienced. I've had to figure out a lot on my own and have become more independent; I can thank many people I've met through my college journey who were more than willing to help me. I feel more connected with the community because I lean on others with college experience."
