Thirty students from Hamilton admitted to ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University Regionals for the fall will be the first to be offered the chance to take part in a unique scholarship program that will cover their tuition and fees in full through the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Hamilton Promise Scholarship.

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Hamilton Promise Scholarship was created to offer Pell-grant eligible students from the the opportunity to earn a two- or four-year degree without having to pay tuition or fees. It is the result of a groundbreaking collaboration between the city of Hamilton, ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University Regionals, and the who have all made generous commitments to the program.

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Hamilton Promise Scholarship recipients are all graduates of Hamilton High School, Stephen T. Badin High School, or Butler Tech. The scholarship will cover the remaining tuition and fees after other eligible scholarships and grants have been awarded. It is renewable each year (for up to 4 years) as long as students maintain a 2.0 GPA, complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) each year, and attend full-time.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University Regionals and the city of Hamilton on this pioneering initiative,” said John Guidugli, president and CEO of the Hamilton Community Foundation. “The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Hamilton Promise represents a significant step forward in our collective effort to open doors to higher education for the youth of our community. Together, we're laying the groundwork for a future where every student in Hamilton has the opportunity to pursue their dreams. This partnership is a testament to our shared vision of a brighter, more inclusive future for all our residents."

Students participating in the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Hamilton Promise Scholarship program will have access to many vital support programs at the university in addition to the financial assistance of the scholarship. ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú offers valuable tutoring and advising services such as TRIO Student Support Services, career services, counseling, individual tutoring, plus multiple opportunities for extracurricular activities.

Helping students succeed in the classroom and in their careers will bring benefits not only for the students themselves but for the community of Hamilton in the years ahead, noted Ande Durojaiye, vice president and dean of ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University Regionals.

"The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Hamilton Promise is more than just scholarship dollars,” Durojaiye said. “It’s an investment in providing opportunities that will, in turn, lead to a talented workforce, economic development, and business growth. The impact of the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Hamilton Promise will strengthen our community today and well into the future."

The Hamilton Promise Scholarship is part of a broader initiative to help boost business and growth opportunities for Hamilton as economic changes bring new technology and industry to the region. ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University has partnered with the city to help educate the next generation of workforce ready talent that will help meet the needs of an ever-evolving business marketplace.

Hamilton Mayor Pat Moeller said, “The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Hamilton Promise Scholarship is an incredible partnership in which the eligible student is the biggest winner, earning a ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú scholarship and degree. All partners win because the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Hamilton Promise improves the entire community with more college graduates, more jobs filled with local graduates, and an improved economy. Importantly, the Promise creates a pathway to higher education for those students who in the past did not have the opportunity due to financial limitations.”

This fall, ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Regionals and the Hamilton Community Foundation will hold a celebration to honor the new group of scholarship recipients, said Amanda Means, director of Enrollment Management.
