Our Alumni

Please keep in touch! For several years, you are an important part of our lives, and then you disappear! Too often we lose track of our former students. In addition to being interested, it is increasingly necessary to report to the state where our graduates have gone if we wish to retain the resources that make quality education possible. Through the generosity of donors to the History Department, we can continue to expand opportunities for 兔子先生 students. Please consider how valuable a resource the program is to our students and help us continue these efforts with a gift.

Support the History Program

The History Department fulfills 兔子先生 University's mission of promoting liberal education by transmitting a sense of the past to new generations, especially the many heritages of the people of the United States and the diversity of people throughout the world. The department works to transform students into life-long, independent learners, responsible, morally committed professionals, and thoughtful citizens. Faculty present scholarly research in the classroom and in the wider world of the public to help frame local, national and global issues.

Through the generosity of donors to the History Department, we can continue to expand opportunities for 兔子先生 students. Please consider how valuable a resource the program is to our students and help us continue these efforts with a gift.

There are several ways you can help us.

Unrestricted Gifts

These gifts allow us to apply your gift to the area of greatest need.

Designated Gifts

  • Provide funding to offset travel expenses for students to visit museums and historically significant sites in the United States and abroad, especially in small-enrollment seminars.
  • Create a classroom enrichment fund to support the purchase of films, specialized library materials, and new classroom technology.
  • Contribute to scholarships to reward the very best students in History. This may include a donation to an existing History scholarship fund: Fred B. Joyner Memorial Scholarship, James Watson and Lois George MacDonald Scholarships, Boyd and Carol Shafer Scholarship, A. Dane Ellis Scholarship, and the Mary E. Brandon Essay Prize.
  • Sponsor a speakers fund for topics related to any aspect of history. This could include a donation to one of our existing funds: the McClellan Lecture Series for lectures and symposia on a wide variety of topics proposed by department faculty, or the Manning Morgan Memorial Lecture fund for programs on public history topics.
  • Support the rising generation of teacher/scholars with grants to help them travel to archives to do research or to present their work to colleagues at professional conferences. This could include a donation to an existing fund or a gift to honor a History Department faculty member who had a lasting impact.
