Meg Sczyrba Receives 2022 APEX Grand Award for Environmental Writing

APEX

Communications Concepts, Inc., a media/news company that advises publishing, PR and marketing professionals on best practices for improving their publications and communications programs, has named ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University graduate student Meg Sczyrba as the . Based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence, the APEX Awards attract many outstanding entries. With more than 1,200 entries in 2022, just 100 grand award winners were selected.

APEX on Sczyrba award: "This year, APEX debuted a brand new category -- 'Environment," which included the sub-category of 'Climate Change.' Our judges did NOT expect an organization titled 'American Bankers Association' to submit an entry in a category such as this, let alone win a Grand Award! However, there is no denying the impact climate change has on some businesses and industries. In fact, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has labeled climate change 'the biggest emerging threat to the health of the U.S. financial system'. This article takes the time to review the basics of climate change and then goes beyond to discuss its regional impacts, how to mitigate it and the risks of transition. It should be required reading, not only for those in corporations that need to evaluate its effect on their business, but also as an educational tool for the general public."

Sczyrba has been involved in the compliance industry for over 25 years and currently chairs the Editorial Advisory Board of ABA Bank Compliance. Sczyrba is earning a Master of Arts (MA) in the biological sciences from ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University through Project Dragonfly’s Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) while working as a program manager for U.S. Bank in Portland, Oregon. As an AIP student, Sczyrba takes web-based ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú courses and explores Woodland Park Zoo and natural areas around Washington. Sczyrba is also the founder of Wildlife at Heart, a non-profit aimed at helping endangered species.
