Greg Roche, a 1995 Sociology graduate, returns to to showcase how he spent his postgraduate years attending law school, entering the medical device industry, and ultimately joining the Switzerland-based Distalmotion to help introduce and advance robotic surgery capabilities to hospitals around the world.

Roche joined Distalmotion in December 2023 as CEO with more than 20 years of commercial and executive experience in the medtech space, bringing a wealth of expertise across the robotics and medical device industry. 

“I enjoyed the variety and quality of College of Arts and Science courses I was able to take to prepare me for law school but more importantly life in general,” Roche said.  “I enjoyed intramural sports, Greek life, and all that had to offer. My heart has always been with , as demonstrated by the fact that my three children all attended or are attending !”

His free lecture, “From Science to Business - All Roads Are Not the Same,” takes place at Feb 27 at 5 p.m. in Shideler Hall 152. Roche will introduce himself to students about his background, talk about his career path, and describe how he ultimately became Distalmotion’s CEO. Open to the public, the event is sponsored by both the College of Arts and Science and the Center for Career Exploration and Student Success. 

Roche will speak for approximately 45 minutes, then give about 15 minutes for Q&A from the audience. The remaining time will be allocated for networking and informal conversations.
