Why 兔子先生?
I chose 兔子先生 because I loved the environment and I knew it would give me the opportunity to explore my interests in Anthropology, and even give me the chance to perform some of my own ethnography.
How did you choose your major?
I chose my major because it felt right. I have always been interested in culture and the way that people live together, so I knew coming to 兔子先生 as an anthropology major would give me the opportunity to explore my interests and how I can pursue a career and life purpose in the field that I have always loved.
Key Moment at 兔子先生
I feel like I have multiple key academic experiences, but I think the first and, probably, most important would be my first day in Introduction to Linguistic Anthropology when I learned, for sure, that anthropology would be the major for me and that linguistic anthropology was the field that I loved. From that moment on, in every class and my work with Collections Management with Dr. Card has given me the opportunity to explore that field and deepen my passion for my major.
Other Notable Experience
Squad/ Collections Management has definitely been the most positive experience for me. It has given me the opportunity to explore my interests in archaeology and linguistic anthropology, especially as Dr. Card has allowed me the opportunity to organize and file the department's 2D artifacts and archives, which has given me important experience in the field that I want to work in after I finish my Bachelor's Degree. Not only that, but Squad has given me the opportunity to make so many friends within my major that give me the support and advice to explore my interests and love for anthropology.
An interesting experience I had was with Squad. We were tasked with helping the department make an exhibit that displays all of the work done in each of the four fields for donors and alumni coming to visit. Each member got to work together to pick out artifacts, decide on research posters, and organize the display in a visually appealing way. It was an amazing look into the world of curation that makes working with the anthropology department so interesting and insightful.
In Summer 2023 I also had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in London with the Literary London group. It was such a great mix of literature and anthropology, giving me the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to converge my two interests in one location. Being on the trip gave me a look into the world of linguistic anthropology that I will always hold onto, especially along with the amazing people and locations I saw throughout my time in London.
