Why ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú?
ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú was the first college campus I visited, and after that I couldn't get it out of my head! I originally found it by researching the best schools for my major, and once I actually stepped foot in Oxford I just knew! I l fell in love with the red brick and small-town feel.
How did you choose your major?
I knew I had a passion for Spanish when I got to ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú, however I did not know that I was going to do a combined BA/MA student until my sophomore year. The faculty pushed me to shoot for the stars!
Key Moment at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú
I was always interested in social studies in high school and almost chose to major in Political Science. What ultimately drove me towards International Studies was my desire to understand the world from different disciplines, including political science. After that, I discovered that Spanish paired perfectly and opted to have it as a minor. I'm grateful that ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú took my AP credits from high school, as that made the process a lot easier!
Other Notable Experience
My ITS201 class (Introduction to International Studies) was very formative in shaping my experience at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú. As a first-semester freshman, I was still nervous about making sure I chose the right major, and this class assured me that I did. I loved being able to take a deeper dive into the topics I was interested in, and I am now an Undergraduate Associate for the class. I get to see other students have that same experience I did, and it's very rewarding.
Another ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Moment
Joining Sigma Iota Rho has had such a positive influence since I've joined. The career and academic resources I've been exposed to have helped me broaden my idea of what I can do with my major(s). It's also a great experience to be around peers who share my passions. It's also given me several leadership opportunities on the executive board.
Advice to Prospective Students
There's really no place like it, and you'll see that for yourself as soon as you step on campus!
What are your career goals?
I plan on attending law school immediately after graduation! I have no set idea of my career, but I'm very interested in working in Immigration or the State Department.
What makes ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú special?
I would say that I came to ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú not knowing anyone, and now I can't walk around campus without saying hi to at least one person! The people here are the best.
