See William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream April 30-May 4
ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University Theatre invites audiences to experience William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Lewis Magruder. This production runs from April 30- May 4 in Gates-Abegglen Theatre.
Four young lovers escape to the woods to pursue their dreams of love far away from parental disapproval. What they encounter there is anything but the blissful freedom they seek, for the powerful fairy king is in a lovers' spat with his equally powerful fairy queen. To further complicate matters, a group of (very) amateur actors have chosen these same woods in which to rehearse a play. How one of them ends up with an ass's head is a plot device only Shakespeare could dream up in this, perhaps his most beloved comedy.
All showings will commence at 7:30 P.M. except the closing Sunday performance at 2:00 P.M.
“There are many reasons to feel enchanted by A Midsummer Night’s Dream–hot-headed passions, mischievous pranks, mistaken identities, and the magical woods at night where it all transpires,” explained Magruder. “Still, for all the comic fun, what enchants me most about the play is its enduring theme–the indomitable spirit of love.”
