There are nine #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú giving opportunities that specifically support ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University’s College of Engineering and Computing.

During #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú, ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University’s annual day of giving, the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University community has the opportunity to directly impact students, helping them achieve their dreams and succeed in their academic journey. It’s a time when we can welcome the incoming Class of 2028 into the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú family with open arms and show them the power of our community. 

Below are nine giving opportunities which specifically impact the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC). Not only will your gift support our students and programming, it can also earn you exclusive gifts and prizes!

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú students at a SHPE event.The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University local chapter of SHPE is driven to increase Hispanic and Latinx participation in Engineering, Computing, and related fields. Funds raised through #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will help members take advantage of valuable professional experiences like attending the national SHPE Conference in October, an incredible opportunity for CEC students to engage and interact with other SHPE members.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University's National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú students at last year's NSBE conference.ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University's chapter of NSBE is dedicated to making sure its members are prepared and ready upon graduation to be successful and make connections in their chosen career field. Funds raised through #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will help students develop their communication and networking skills, as well as fund member attendance at conferences such as the National Society of Black Engineers Convention.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú students at the annual SWE conference.In a traditionally male-dominated field, the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University SWE chapter creates a welcoming space for women engineers. Funds raised through #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will provide opportunities for increased outreach as well as extra funds to invest in the women in CEC.

 

Engineers Without Borders (EWB) at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú students participating in an EWB bridge-building project.EWB student members at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú CEC are currently working with international communities in Uganda and Rwanda on projects involving access to water and sanitation. Having designed and implemented a solar-powered water treatment and distribution system, they are also working with the community and local schools on a water accessibility project and improved sanitation conditions. Funds raised through #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will help the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University Chapter of EWB continue to run its projects.

College of Engineering and Computing K-12 Outreach

K12 students at the First Tech Robotics competition, organized by the CEC K12 outreach program.CEC’s K-12 Outreach program brings K-12 students to ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú's Oxford campus to learn about CEC, explore careers in engineering, and take advantage of unique experiential learning opportunities. Funds raised through #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will go toward transportation costs to help bring students to ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s campus, as well as to help fund engineering and computing experiences and supplies for the Outreach Program.

Paper Science & Engineering Foundation

Paper engineering students work on the pilot paper labOver 1,500 paper professionals have gotten their start by learning the fundamentals of papermaking in the department that started the engineering tradition of excellence at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú. Funds raised through #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will provide much-needed donations for scholarships, faculty support and facilities improvements.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University Center for Assistive Technology (MU CAT)

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú students participate in a MU Cat project which researches the issue of balance in regards to neurological disorders.Through MU CAT, students have the opportunity to design innovative assistive technologies that enhance accessibility and improve lives.Funds raised through #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will help cover materials, prototyping, and specialized software costs for our annual Design Innovation Competition and student-led independent study initiatives. In short, they will give students the resources they need to create life-changing solutions for individuals with disabilities. 

Lilly ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúhip Institute

The latest Lilly ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúhip cohort stands in front of the McVey Data Science building.The purpose of the Lilly ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúhip Institute is to cultivate leaders who will flourish in their professions and lives by thinking strategically, working collaboratively with others, effectively communicating their ideas, and finding innovative solutions to society's most complex problems. Funds raised through #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will help pay for books and student projects.

Psychedelic Research in the Jones Lab

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú students work in the Jones lab.The Jones Lab, operated under the leadership of Associate Professor of Chemical, Paper and Biomedical Engineering Andrew Jones, works year round to develop new treatments for mental health disorders while providing invaluable opportunities for undergraduate students in research. Funds raised through #MoveInÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú will provide opportunities for students to present at national conferences, purchase materials and supplies, and receive summer stipends for summer research experiences in Oxford.
