Biography

Steven Elliott is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics and a fellow in the Institute for the Environment and Sustainability at 兔子先生 University in Oxford Ohio. Dr. Elliott received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1990 having previously earned an M.A. from there in 1989. In 1986 Dr. Elliott earned his B.S. (Honors) from the University of Wyoming. All this degrees were in Economics. Upon Graduation, Dr. Elliott held a post-doctoral research associate position at the Economics Science Laboratory at the University of Arizona working the Dr. Vernon L. Smith. Upon completion of this position, Dr. Elliott worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory doing research for both the USDOE and USEPA in the area of environmental and energy economics. Leaving Oak Ridge, Dr. Elliott returned to academics.

Dr. Elliott鈥檚 area of expertise is in applied microeconomics. In particular he has studies individual non-market valuation and decision making under risk and uncertainty, often employing experimental economic methods. In particular he has been involved in research on pollution permit markets for Acid Rain reduction, the value of the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve, economic valuation of non-market goods such as biodiversity in aquatic habitats, and critical evaluation of the Contingent Valuation Methods for non-use value determination.

Dr. Elliott has been a referee for journals including the American Economic Review, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and Contemporary Economic Policy. In most cases the papers involved issues of environmental valuation, or economic decision making under risk and uncertainty. He has also served as a reviewer for the National Science Foundation鈥檚 Economics Program and Decision, Risk and Management Science Program. Dr. Elliott has been a reviewer of various USDOE models as part of the Energy Information Administration鈥檚 Independent Expert Review Program. Dr. Elliott has also served on various EPA Grant Peer Review Panels (primarily incentive-based methods for pollution reduction, and pollution and health impacts).
