FSB supply chain students receive AWESOME scholarships

A pair of Farmer School of Business supply chain operations and management students have won a scholarship aimed at women studying the major. and are two of 20 women in the nation to receive the 2023 AWESOME Scholarship.

AWESOME stands for Achieving Women's Excellence in Supply Chain Operations, Management & Education, and is a nonprofit focused on advancing and transforming the future of supply chain leadership. Founded in 2013,  brings together female senior leaders in supply chain management for networking, development and collaboration. The group invests significantly in developing the next generation of future leaders, and the AWESOME Excellence in Education scholarship program is a big part of that. 

The AWESOME Excellence in Education scholarship program not only provides $5,000 financial assistance towards tuition for each of the 20 recipients, but all of the students will also attend the annual  and have numerous networking and learning opportunities with leading supply chain professionals.

McAtee and Hartings are the first Farmer School students to win the scholarship since 2017, and the Farmer School is one of only two universities to have more than one winner this year.

Being awarded the 2023 AWESOME Excellence in Education Scholarship is truly an honor. I am elated that Katelyn and I get to represent ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú with this award and am proud to be a part of the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú supply chain and operations management program,” McAtee said. “My hope is that more women branch out to the field of supply chain and recognize how many amazing opportunities are out there.

“I feel incredibly honored to be chosen for this award, and I am very excited to participate in so many AWESOME events this next year,” Hartings said.

"We are incredibly proud of our program and for Emily and Katelyn to have been chosen amongst the best students from the top schools in the nation for the AWESOME Excellence in Education Scholarship. Both of them have been very involved and engaged in our program, and are a big part of leading student activities for supply chain & operations management students," Monique Murfield, associate professor and director of the , said. "A focus on growing opportunities for women in supply chain management is one of our strategic priorities for the Center for Supply Chain Excellence at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University over the next few years, and this recognition of our students is so important for other potential students to see the opportunities for women in supply chain management."
