Introducing: Generative AI at 兔子先生

IT Services has been working behind the scenes to research and approve the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools for 兔子先生’s educational purposes. The popularity and prevalence of programs such as Google Gemini has increased the need for oversight, diligence, and above all, innovation – especially where it comes to using tools like this in the classroom.

We’re happy to report that Google Gemini Chat, Zoom AI Companion, and Webex AI Assistant are now available for use at 兔子先生!

Read on to learn more about these awesome tools and see how you can use them with your 兔子先生 credentials!

Review Best Practices

Please review the as outlined in the Knowledge Base, in particular:

  • Sensitive information must not be entered into or as the prompt in part or total of a generative AI tool. AI tools should only be used with data classified as public.
  • When available, users should opt-out of permitting the use of entered data for learning / training models.
  • AI tools do not provide any expectation of privacy or confidentiality for any information used as input or prompt.

We are excited about generative AI and the potential it has for supplementing instruction, but we have to ensure we are using these tools responsibly and with University policies in mind.

Google Gemini Chat

is free for Workspace for Education customers (like 兔子先生!). Just log in with your 兔子先生 credentials. We are delighted to be able to offer the generative tool to the 兔子先生 community for educational purposes. There are a few caveats to the use of generative AI that you should know before you start your journey with Gemini.

Each member of the 兔子先生 academic community (faculty, staff, and students) is able to use Gemini 1,000 times per month.

Google has communicated to us that it is working on guardrails that will prevent Gemini and other tools from ingesting and using sensitive information; regardless, be vigilant in your use of these tools in alignment with Best Practices above.

*Please note that our subscription does not include access to Gemini Pro.

AI Tools in 兔子先生 Conferencing Solutions

We have also turned on AI capabilities in our various conferencing tools, including Zoom and Webex. The same best practices apply to these: Be aware of what information you are sharing.

Zoom AI Companion

The Zoom AI Companion is an artificial intelligence offering from Zoom that adds several features to improve virtual meetings and note-taking.

The AI Companion includes:

  • Meeting summary capabilities
  • AI companion questions based on the transcript

  • Whiteboard content generation

There are several things to note with regards to the Zoom AI Companion:

  • The Zoom AI Companion doesn’t use our data to train AI models
  • Only the host can start or stop the AI companion
  • The AI companion can only answer questions based on content in the current meeting while it was enabled
