Celebrating Culture Through Music and Dance is Sept. 13, featuring guests from the Salsa Center

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúans and community members have an opportunity to celebrate National Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month with a special event Sept. 13 at Shriver Center.

The Office of Transformational and Inclusive Excellence hosts in Shriver Center’s Heritage Room from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Cristina Alcalde, vice president for Transformational and Inclusive Excellence, noted the evening will feature samba, bachata, and salsa dance lessons for beginners, as well as dance performances as part of the celebration.

“As we begin fall semester, we see this as an important opportunity to bring the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú community together for a fun celebration,” Alcalde said. “We encourage students, faculty, and staff to bring their friends to the celebration as we launch Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month and recognize the contributions of the Latinx community here at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú and beyond.”

The Salsa Center will be the featured guest, teaching steps and techniques. No experience is necessary.

National Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month is celebrated annually Sept. 15-Oct. 15.
