Research Bio

Dr. Andrew Paluch graduated from SUNY University at Buffalo in 2008 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.A. in Mathematics. While an undergraduate, he was a Barry M. Goldwater Scholar and spent two summers as a research assistant at the International Arctic Research Center in Fairbanks, Alaska.

He completed his graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame, earning an M.S. in 2011 and a Ph.D. in 2013 in Chemical Engineering. At Notre Dame he was an Arthur J. Schmitt Presidential Fellow and spent a summer as a research assistant in the Department of Surface and Interface Sciences at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a recipient of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Computational Molecular Science and Engineering Forum (CoMSEF) Graduate Student Award in 2011, and a 2013 recipient of AIChE’s Separations Division Graduate Student Research Award (Crystallization and Evaporation).

Dr. Paluch is the 2016 recipient of the American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund Undergraduate New Investigator Award.

He joined ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University in 2013. His research interests are in molecular and phase-equilibrium thermodynamics and separation processes. His primary research tool is molecular simulation which utilizes the Ohio Supercomputer Center.

The work of the his laboratory at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú centers on developing efficient molecular simulation methodologies for property prediction useful for design applications, and the design of novel materials and solvents for separation processes.

In 2018 Dr. Paluch was named an “Emerging Investigator” by the Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data.

Dr. Paluch is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and is currently the advisor for ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s student chapter.
