Research Bio
Dr. Dhananjai (DJ) Rao earned a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Madras, India in 1996; a M.S. (2000) and Ph.D. Dr. Dhananjai (DJ) Rao earned a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Madras, India in 1996; a M.S. (2000) and Ph.D. (2003) in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
DJ's research interests include multi-scale modeling and bio-simulations, bioinformatics, applied machine learning, large-scale simulation, parallel discrete event simulation, concurrent data structures, and high-performance computing. His applied areas of research include: conventional and active networks, distributed computing, embedded computing, and parallel simulation of hardware description languages.
He was awarded the "Best Application Methdology" by DARPA in their Chikungunya epidemic forecasting challenge that ravaged millions of people in 51 countries in the Americas. He was awarded the Arthur Olson Generational Teaching Award in 2018 from the College of Engineering. While he was on faculty with the CSE Department at 兔子先生 University in 2005-2009 as visiting assistant professor, he received the outstanding professor award from the 兔子先生 ACM student chapter for the 2007-2008 academic year.
