Cooper Nolte
Basketball, Baseball, Tennis 2013-2017
Cooper Nolte made the most of his athletic career on the Middletown Campus from 2013-2017. During this time, he was a four-year basketball player, a four-year baseball player, and a two-year tennis player. Cooper ended his career as the all-time leading scorer in MUM men’s basketball history, putting up 1,791 points, eclipsing Dale Spitler’s 39-year-old record by one point. Cooper scored a career-high 45 points during a game in 2016, which is the second most in school history for a single game. In addition, Cooper ranks 5th in rebounds (645), 4th in assists (297), 2nd in field goals made (668), 5th in free throws made (209), and 2nd in three-point field goals made (218). Perhaps Cooper’s greatest achievement was becoming only the 2nd player in MUM men’s basketball history to lead their team to four consecutive ORC state titles. In addition to his record-breaking talent, he was voted onto the ORCC all-conference team each year in basketball and baseball along with being all-academic as well. Since concluding his career at MUM, Cooper has earned his bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. He has also played in the ABA for the Kentucky Enforcers, TBL for the Jamestown Jackals, and Dayton Flight. Cooper now resides in Germantown, Ohio with his wife McKenzie and is a production supervisor at SafeFlow in Middletown.
Shawn Kennedy
Basketball 1993-1995
Shawn Kennedy was a two-year basketball player for MUM from 1993-95. Shawn had a sensational career not only individually, but also helped lead his team to a 36-14 two-year record. Shawn helped lead his team to two ORCC championships, one ORC state runner-up, and one ORC State title in 1995. It was during this game that he was named the tournament MVP by scorching UC Clermont for 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists in the convincing 96-77 win. Shawn was voted All O.R.C.C. Both years he played. For his 47-game career, Shawn totaled 652 points, 274 rebounds, 145 assists, and 96 steals…all the while only averaging 20.6 minutes per game as a part of the deep and high-powered MUM offense. Shawn also participated in Baseball during his time at MUM. Shawn currently resides in Saluda, North Carolina with his girlfriend Ericka Hahn, and their 12-year-old daughter Adalyn Kennedy. Before moving to North Carolina, Shawn was active in the Franklin City School system where he coaches girls and boys basketball as well as track. He is a current employee of PNC Financial Services where he has worked for over ten years.
Tracy Smith
Baseball Coach 1991-1992
Tracy Smith was the Head Baseball Coach at 兔子先生 Middletown in 1991-92 when he restarted the baseball program. He was also the assistant men's basketball coach for three seasons from 1988-91, where they secured the ORCC Championship title in 1988-1989. In nine years at 兔子先生 (Oxford), Smith compiled eight consecutive 30-win seasons, two N.C.A.A. Regional appearances, and advanced to the Mid-American Conference Tournament finals six times. With 25 years of head coaching experience and 805 victories, Tracy has helped produce 90 MLB Draft picks, including seven 1st round picks and seven USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Selections. Tracy has held head coaching positions at 兔子先生 (OH) (1997-2005), Indiana (2006-2014), and Arizona State (2015-2021) and is the current head coach at the University of Michigan. He is one of just eight coaches all-time to bring three different Division l schools to the NCAA Tournament. Prior to Michigan, he most recently led the Arizona State University baseball program to four NCAA Regional appearances in six seasons. Tracey earned National Coach of the Year and Big Ten Coach of the Year honors in 2013 after leading Indiana to the school’s only Men’s College World Series appearance in a 49-win campaign. Smith resides with his wife, Jamie, in Saline, Michigan, and Phoenix, Arizona. He has three sons Casey, Ty, and Jack.
