Regionals in action during spring semester
Early College Academy
- The initial cohort of 21 students from Hamilton and Middletown High Schools in the Early College Academy completed their first year and will return this fall for the second year of the two-year program. Next spring, they will receive both their high school diploma and ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University associate's degree at no cost to them, and will be halfway to their bachelor’s degree.
- Next fall, the second Early College Academy class will include 31 students from Hamilton and Middletown, plus 61 students from new schools joining the program: Franklin, Madison, New ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú, and Winton Woods High Schools.
- Early College Academy students enjoyed a three-day trip in May to Washington, D.C. Theirs was a full and meaningful schedule that included the National Archives, Smithsonian, National Museum of Natural History, Supreme Court, National Museum of African American History and Culture, and a tour of the White House, and more.
WORK+
- Forty students took part in the Work+ program this spring, taking advantage of the opportunity to graduate debt-free.
- Kettering Health Hamilton, Premier Health Atrium Medical Center, and Butler County General Health District have joined the Regionals’ Work+ initiative as we continue to align the Regionals with area workforce needs.
- Zehra Investments and Shape Corporation joined these healthcare providers this spring, bringing the total number of participating companies to 19.
- A total of 50 openings are available for this fall, and discussions are underway for adding five more companies to the program.
Microcredentials
- ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Regionals currently offers : 14 in Business, 6 in Communication and Culture, 4 in Engineering, and 9 in Technology.
- To date, the Regionals have awarded 2,486 Microcredentials to 1,214 students.
- The newest for-credit programs include Personal Finance, Introduction to Adobe Photoshop, Computer Skills for the Workplace, Writing for Health & Medicine, and Personal Computer, Financial, and Organizational Skills.
- TechCred, a State of Ohio program, reimburses Ohio businesses up to $2,000 for their employees to earn a technical credential. include: Agile Project Management, Computer Skills for the Workplace, Digital Marketing, Photoshop, Data Analytics, ICAgile Certified Professional, SQL Queries, Cybersecurity, CAD/CAM 1, Mechatronics, and Robotics and Automation.
- Three non-credit programs are available: Mental Health First Aid, Developing Your Digital Professional Profile, and a Regional ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúhip Co-Curricular Certificate.
- The Mental Health First Aid program was first offered to the Cleveland-based GNCO, and subsequently to the Ohio Academic Advising Association.
Grow with Google Partnership
- The Regionals joined Google and Downtown Middletown Inc. in for small businesses.
- Grow with Google is a free program that helps small businesses develop skills that will enable them to compete locally, nationally, and globally.
- Regional E-Campus leader Janet Hurn is one of two Grow with Google Digital coaches in Ohio. She has been with the Regionals for more than 30 years and working with small businesses to build strategic plans and partnerships to advance their goals.
Public Programming
- During the spring semester, the Regionals hosted over 40 events bringing thousands of visitors to our Hamilton, Middletown, and West Chester locations. View our photo galleries from a few of our events.
- The in Middletown featured environmental activist Erin Brockovich.
- The Regionals MORE initiative () held its second workshop at the Voice of America Learning Center focused on diversity in business and workforce development.
- Public lectures with guest speakers included presentations on and the .
- The Middletown Campus’ , now in its third decade, continued to offer young audiences access to the performing arts.
