A Bachelor’s degree requires a minimum of 124 credit hours (or about 41 classes). Students should take 15-16 credit hours (or about 5 courses) each fall and spring semester to complete their degree in eight semesters, or no fewer than 30 credit hours (or about 10 classes) a year, to complete their degree over four years.
Most college courses are worth 3 credit hours but can range from 1 credit hour to 5 credit hours or more. For every 1 credit hour, a student will have, on average, 3 hours of weekly coursework for a full semester, 15-week session. For a full semester 3-credit course (the most common course offering), students may expect to spend about nine hours a week on the course, whether it’s online or in-person. If the course is a sprint course (less than 15 weeks), the same amount of time will need to be committed to the course, condensed into fewer weeks. ()
