Hello! My name is Dr. Ashley Hopkins, and I am very excited to serve as the Project Director for ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University’s Upward Bound program. I have been working at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú since 2017, and have a professional background working with students who are first-generation college students, from lower-income households, military-affiliated, foster care alumni, and students facing food insecurity or other resource needs. I have worked in three other institutions, as well as in the K12 and nonprofit education and mental health sectors. I completed a doctorate of education and a master’s degree in education and women’s and gender studies at Ohio University, and a bachelor’s degree in English from The Ohio State University. I grew up in southeastern Ohio where I graduated from Gallia Academy High School. I pride myself on my Appalachian roots. 

I am currently a proud resident of Hamilton, Ohio where I reside with my husband and three dogs. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening, creating art, hiking, kayaking, going to concerts and cultural events, and spending time with loved ones.

Hi! My name is Jessica James and I am the Advisor for the Upward Bound Program. I grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Northmont High School.  I received my undergraduate degree from Shawnee State University in Early Education (Pre-K-3rd grade) and then went on to Marshall University for my Master's Degree in Educational Technology.  I live in Indiana with my husband of 13 years and my 9 and 5 year old.  I also have a bonus child that is 17 that lives in Columbus with her mom. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing games, going to concerts, and  spending time with my family.
