Here are some helpful transition resources for full-time, temporary faculty (Visiting Assistant Professors or Instructors) when not being re-appointed for the next academic year.

Insurance/Retirement Contributions

Information about health insurance, life insurance and withdrawing funds from retirement plans when one’s employment at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú ends is available on the Human Resources site: .

Note: A faculty member who is full-time and has ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú health insurance has that insurance coverage for 12 months: September through August 31. If one is not reappointed (or resigns, retires, even with a May/June retirement date, for instance) the health insurance is effective through August 31st.

When health benefits are terminated, the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) gives an employee (and family) the right to choose to continue group health, dental, vision, and FSA benefits provided by ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú. Qualified individuals are required to pay the premium for coverage (premiums listed on website). ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú's administrator, Chard Snyder, will mail the information to the home address on file with ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University Health Clinic is available to those who are covered by ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s health plan.

Unemployment Compensation

If you are not being reappointed for next year, you may qualify for unemployment compensation. Eligibility is determined by the State after the application for unemployment compensation is submitted.

How do I apply for unemployment?

The phone lines are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but state officials recommended filing online if you are able.

What documents do I need to apply for unemployment?

You will need:

• Your Social Security number
• Driver’s license or state identification number
• Your name, address, telephone number and email address
• The name, address, telephone number and dates of employment

Employee Assistance ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú offers employee assistance through IMPACT Solutions for all our employees.

• Prevention and Recovery: Phone consultation with a Fraud Resolution Specialist.
• Financial Services: Phone consultation with financial counselors and educators.

Who is eligible for the program?

All employees, spouse/partner, household members, dependents (in and away from home through age 26), parents/parent-in-laws are eligible to use any of the IMPACT’s EAP services.
