Registration Override Request (ROR) and Banner Waitlist

Departments within the College of Arts and Science use either Banner Waitlists or the Registration Override Request (ROR) application to manage course enrollments. If a course is closed but has an active waitlist, you can add yourself to the list in hopes of securing a seat when one becomes available. The ROR application can be used to request a seat in a closed course; however, it can also be used to request a seat in a course that is open but inaccessible to a student due to registration errors (e.g., prerequisite/test score, major/minor restriction, etc.).

Does my course use ROR or Banner Waitlist?

Logging in to will help you determine whether your course is using the ROR application or Banner Waitlist.

  • Log in to the Course List (top right-hand corner of the page using your unique ID and password).
  • Search for the course you want to add.
  • When the results are displayed, review the information displayed in the “Enrollment” column.  This column will tell you the current capacity of the course and whether you have the option to “Submit Registration Override Request” or “Join Waitlist on BannerWeb.”  If the course has a waitlist, you can also see the capacity of it.

Registration Override Request Dates for Spring 2025 courses

All times are in the Eastern Time (ET) zone

Registration Override Request will open for submissions for courses when the student's time ticket is open.

Please pay attention to the dates below.

November 2024

  • November 18 at 5 pm: submissions are due
  • November 20 at 5 pm: departments will have made decisions & communicated them to students
  • November 21 at 5 pm: If there are any conflicts (e.g. excess hours, time conflicts, etc), students must resolve them by this date and time to be added to the course

January 2025

  • January 22 at 5 pm: submissions are due
  • January 23 at 5 pm: departments will make ROR decisions no later than this date and time.
  • January 24 at 5 pm: If there are conflicts (e.g. time conflicts, excess hours, etc.), students must resolve them by this date and time to be added to the course


*Any ROR submitted after January 22 will be considered on a space-available basis.

Full-semester and early start-sprint courses start on January 27, 2025
