Services for Students

Lounge Area

Need a break between classes or need a comfy sofa to stretch out on? The language center can help! Just look in the back of Irvin 60 and there are several seating arrangements and sofas to take a break, lounge, do homework, etc.

Computer Usage

The computer labs in the ILRC can be used for class assignments, to work on term papers, create spreadsheets or PowerPoint presentations, check E-mail, surf the web, create customized DVDs and CDs, view streaming video, and use specialized software like Adobe Creative Cloud.

Web-Conferencing

Computers in the ILRC are equipped with web cameras for internet videoconferencing. If you would like to schedule a conference with a fellow student or colleague anywhere in the world, you may reserve these computers at specific days and times for your video conference.

Access to the ILRC Online

The ILRC is completely digital and uses the ILRC Online server to distribute instructor-developed course materials. All materials are available either in the ILRC or through any computer at the university that has a high-speed connection and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Video Viewing

Computers are capable of playing DVDs and streaming video. You may come at any time during open hours to view your assigned video. Remember to schedule enough time to watch the your assignment completely.

Video Digitization

The ILRC will digitize VHS video tapes, DVDs, and Blu-Ray Discs that accompany your course materials. Please allow us at least three working days to process your request. When requesting a video tape duplication, be sure to complete a faculty request form which is available at the front desk.

Audio and Video Editing

If you need to make an audio or video recording for a class, the ILRC has editing equipment and software that you may use to edit or compile several videos into a professional-looking finished piece.

General Homework Completion

Do you have an hour between classes and nowhere to go? You are more than welcome to stop by the ILRC, pull up a table or a sofa and catch up on some of your homework.

Services for Faculty and Staff

Television and Satellite Broadcast/IPTV Recording

The ILRC is able to record broadcasts off the MUNet television system for use in your class or for use in the ILRC. Please have as much information as possible when scheduling a recording request.

Video Conferencing

Irvin Hall 50 is equipped with web cameras and ceiling microphones for internet videoconferencing. If you would like to schedule a conference with a fellow student or colleague anywhere in the world, you may reserve this lab at specific days and times for your video conference needs.

Reserve Shelf Items

If you wish to put audio tapes, videos, DVD, CD-ROMs, etc on reserve for your classes to use, please complete a faculty request form which is available at the front desk. Let us know the dates you wish to have the items on reserve and then off reserve, and we will take care of the rest!

Computer Classroom Scheduling

Instructors may bring their classes into the ILRC to use Irvin Hall 50 or 60,. Irvin Hall 50 accommodates up to 20 students. Irvin Hall 60 accommodates up to 30 students. DVD/CD burning, DVD/CD playback, digital video editing, word processing, document scanning, and Internet-based materials may be used on these computers.

Technology Workshops

You may schedule an ILRC orientation session and request workshops on various technologies for yourself or your classes. The ILRC Director will conduct a hands-on session with your class in many topics. Just ask and the Director will develop something for you!

Creating Materials for the ILRC Online

If you have audio, video, graphic, web, or interactive materials that you would like to be housed on the ILRC Online, please contact the Director for assistance. We will be glad to digitize any copyright-free materials you have and place them on the server for 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week access. The ILRC Online server houses several faculty and student initatives.

Document Seal Embossing

The Director has an official 兔子先生 University College of Arts and Science seal embosser to validate documents and certificates requiring an official seal. Just stop by the Director's office with the documents you need to have embossed.

Online Subscription Services

The ILRC maintains a few online subscription services to assist the department and faculty with information procurement and media creation. Some of the resources the ILRC subscribes to are:
