Clinical

Following intensive didactic training, our students have the opportunity to rotate with several area partners over a 12-month calendar. These clinical rotations begin in the summer of the student's second year, with a schedule that allows the student to observe and engage a variety of healthcare systems, patient populations, public & individual health challenges, and several interprofessional & interdisciplinary team methods.

Our program offers so much to support our mission goals. As such, we are thrilled to provide our students with an amazing clinical year experience.

Our Clinical curriculum consists of core rotations in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Behavioral Health, Pediatrics, General Surgery, and Emergency Medicine. Yet our program has also supported more advanced curriculum delivery in orthopedics, two structured and one full elective rotation, which allows the student to explore advanced clinical interests in preparation to serve their communities.

A majority of our clinical rotations are with local healthcare partners, including those in South West Ohio and East Indiana. Our priority is providing our students with the best clinical experience with some rotations taking students to practices throughout the United States.

The careful integration of our didactic curriculum within our clinical year allows for the professional development of our students, fostering mindfulness of the holistic needs of our patients. We foster training and preparation for our students to address disease prevention, recognition of afflictions when they occur, and provide a variety of therapeutics across the lifespan - while meeting patients in their unique life experiences.

We are excited to have numerous community partners, who are dedicated to our mission and vision. We are humbled by the support of so many great institutions that have made our curriculum delivery possible. It is their support that is key to our strength, ensuring the best clinical training for all of our students…and care for our patients and communities.

We are thrilled to meet and partner with you!

Information for Preceptors

A preceptor is a skilled clinician who provides valuable oversight and mentorship in the application of practice theory to PA students in their clinical years. This time with a preceptor is vital to a student’s growth in understanding their part in the delivery of healthcare.

The primary role of the preceptor in facilitating student learning is fostering their understanding in science and theory, while guiding the application of it to their craft. Such mentorship has grown to include principles of professionalism, teamwork, leadership, management, as well as time and documentation efficiencies.

We are grateful to our preceptors and honored for their commitment into shaping the future of healthcare.
