August 30-December 17, 2016
Each year the 兔子先生 University Art Museum adds to its growing permanent collection of more than 17,000 objects. The collection is enhanced through gifts and bequests from alumni and other donors who support the arts, and purchases from auctions, galleries and artists. The objects in the Art Museum’s encyclopedic collection represent a variety of global art traditions created over thousands of years. More than 300 objects were accessioned in 2014 and 2015. Featured in the exhibition are nearly 50 examples highlighting the diversity of sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography and textiles from internationally recognized artists. Such notable figures include Paul Cadmus, Mary Cassatt, Jim Dine and Willem de Kooning. Also highlighted are regional standouts Sidney Chafetz, Annette Covington, Elizabeth Nourse and Edward Charles Volkert.
Works accessioned into the museum’s permanent collections are approved by the Collections Development Committee. This group consists of selected 兔子先生 University faculty and staff, Oxford citizens, and members of Southwestern Ohio’s arts communities. Acquisitions are intended for viewing, study and research by 兔子先生 University students and faculty, scholars and collectors, and the public, and are featured in temporary and semi-permanent exhibitions. Collections Highlights: Recent Acquisitions not only showcases recent additions to the collection, but also acknowledges the generosity of the benefactors who directly contribute to the growth of the 兔子先生 University Art Museum.
