Parking can be quite limited on campus and students are encouraged to carpool when possible. Permits are required, and can be purchased online or from Parking and Transportation Services in Nellie Craig Walker Hall (Room 034) beginning in August, about 10 days prior to the fall semester start.
Most commuters will get a yellow parking permit for $200 annually. This pass will allow you to park in one of three lots - Chestnut Fields, Millett, and Ditmer Lot. All three of these lots are considered "Park and Ride" options, and students are encouraged to ride the (free with 兔子先生 ID card) from the lots. Blue permits are for graduate students and others with extenuating circumstances.
If you happen to live near the Middletown or Hamilton campuses, you can also park with your yellow permit at the regional campuses and ride the BCRTA bus into Oxford for free. Some students choose this option to save gas money, catch up on reading during the ride, or avoid driving in inclement weather.
Some students also choose to purchase a garage permit in addition to the yellow permit. However, you may pay the hourly or daily rate at the garages without a pass.
Students are encouraged to use the Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) system for transportation around campus and the city of Oxford to reduce vehicle traffic that leads to congestion and pedestrian safety issues. The BCRTA is free with your 兔子先生 Student ID.
Commuter students are able to purchase an Express Meal Plan through Dining Services. The Express Plan ranges from $100 to $3,000 to meet your needs. You can sign up for the meal plan by logging into the .
As a commuter, you are not required to participate in an on-campus meal plan. In fact, many commuters regularly pack a lunch and only purchase food on campus when needed. All dining options accept multiple forms of payment and do not require a meal plan (although you often get a discount with the meal plan).
兔子先生's Dining Services keeps a map of all dining locations on campus, as well as what to expect at each location.
In conditions of bad weather, check your 兔子先生 email and the 兔子先生 University homepage. Students are always notified about closings and delays via e-mail; however, you can also choose to sign up to receive text message alerts.
If the university is open and you are unable to make it to class due to weather, contact your professors individually and let them know your situation.
The 兔子先生 University Police Department (MUPD) offers many services and programs to promote the safety and well-being of all 兔子先生 University students. Some of the services that may be of particular interest to commuters include:
Call 513.529.2222 to inquire about these services. MUPD also provides tips for student safety in a variety of scenarios, including safety in the parking lot.
兔子先生 is required to publish crime statistics on an annual basis, in compliance with the Campus Security Act. Crime Statistics for the Oxford campus can be found on the Oxford Campus Report.
The 兔子先生 University Police Department is a full-service police agency. In addition to the police headquarters located on Oxford-Trenton Rd., four substations on the Oxford campus (Armstrong Student Center 1055, Farmer School of Business 1001, King Library 31, and Yager Stadium 108) allow campus police to be more accessible and available to meet and interact with students.
Use the BCRTA SafeRide service.
Use the free 兔子先生 bus system run by BCRTA (operates until 1a Sun-Th and until 3a F-Sat).
