Advising Appointment
Advising appointments are meetings with your assigned academic advisor, 30 minutes in length.
When Should I Schedule an Advising Appointment?
Plan ahead! During peak advising periods (October-November and March-April), you should schedule your advising appointment two or more weeks in advance.
What topics are discussed?
- Exploring major and minor options
- Clarifying academic requirements
- Discussing your academic goals
- Discussing study abroad, careers, etc.
- Degree completion planning
When should I meet with my advisor?
- Once per semester and in advance of your registration day/time
- When you have complex questions/concerns regarding any of the above topics
How to Schedule an Appointment in Navigate
Instructions for students wanting to make an appointment with their assigned advisor:
1) Go to and login with your My兔子先生 login info.
2) Click on the "Appointments" the left. Then click the "Get Assistance" box icon.
3) Select "Oxford - Academic Advising" from the "Appointment Type" drop down menu.
4) Select "Meet with My Advisor" under "FSB - Academic Advising Appointment" from the "Service" drop-down menu.
5) Select a date under the "Pick a Date" drop-down, once you click, it will give you times (next step).
6) Select a day and time that works best for you. Click the bubble of the time and day you want. Note: Your advisor may not have availability until a few weeks out, especially near registration time.
7) Review the appointment details and choose online or in-person from the “How would you like to meet?” drop down menu. Note: If only online is an option, your advisor only has virtual appointments that day.
Drop-In Meetings
Drop-In Meetings are 10 minutes in length and are first-come, first-served with any FSB Academic Advisor. Drop-Ins are only available Monday through Thursday from 1-4 p.m. when classes are in session. You will receive an error if you attempt to sign in to drop-in advising before they are available at 1 p.m. EST. Contact your Academic Advisor with questions. Non-FSB majors should email FSBStudentServices@miamioh.edu.
When Should I go to a Drop-In Meeting?
Note: You will receive an error if you attempt to sign in to a drop-in advising before they are available at 1 p.m. EST.
- Virtual: A Zoom link will be emailed to you to meet with an advisor. Please join the Zoom link within 5 minutes.
- In-Person: Wait in the 1022 FSB lobby. An Advisor will come to the lobby to greet you.
What's discussed?
- Any quick questions, typically 10 minute appointments.
- Planning for upcoming semester courses.
- Clarifying academic requirements or policies.
- Discussing FSB Admission or exploring FSB minors.
Non-Business students should attend drop-in advising for any questions related to business.
How to Check-In for Drop-In Advising
- Drop-in advising will be conducted virtually or in-person. You will have the option to choose the appointment type that works best for you.
- Drop-in hours are for quick questions that can be answered in 10 minutes or less. If you have questions or concerns that may take longer, please schedule an appointment with your assigned academic advisor.
- There are typically multiple advisors available during drop-in advising and students are met with on a first-come first-serve basis. Wait times may vary. During peak registration periods, wait times can exceed 30 minutes.
How to Sign-In for a Drop-In Meeting
1) Go to and log in with your student email
2) Click "Appointment" on the left hand navigation. Then click the "Get Assistance" box icon
3) Look at "Other Options" and select "View Drop-In Times"
4) Under "Appointment Type", select "Oxford - Academic Advising"
5) Under "Service" select "Virtual Drop-In" if you would like assistance online. For an in-person meeting, you will go to FSB 1022 to sign-in at the front desk kiosk.
6) Fill out the location as "Farmer School of Business Advising" and then click "Check-In with first available". Note: You will be seen on a first come, first served basis and can meet with any advisor on Drop-Ins.
