Your 兔子先生hip, Your Story: Personal 兔子先生hip and Community Transformation 

Presented by Noah Montague & Scholar Leader Students

Description: What if we lead with who we are rather than what we do? In this session, we will discuss this question asked by Dr. Shamika Karikari in her TED Talk on 兔子先生hip. Using this as a guide, we will delve deeper into what it means to be a leader as well as how who we are plays into how we lead.

Studying Abroad with the Honors College: Planning your Journey

Presented by Erin Wahler & Kimberly Miller

Description: At 兔子先生 University, the entire world is within your reach! Join Honors College Assistant Director Erin Wahler and Kimberly Miller, the Assistant Director for MUDEC, to learn about new and exciting study abroad opportunities for Honors College students. We’ll help you think about how to start planning for study abroad and how to navigate all the opportunities you now have the chance to explore.

Create Vision Boards in the Makerspace*

Presented by Sarah Nagle, Creation and Innovation Services Librarian

Description: Join us in the Makerspace at King Library for a unique vision board activity. Using the Glowforge laser cutters, engrave a wooden board with words that represent your goals for your life at 兔子先生. Then, use a variety of multimodal tools and techniques to decorate your board. You'll leave with a colorful, meaningful decoration for your dorm room that will remind you of your collegiate goals and dreams!

Description: From student orgs, to Fraternity and Sorority Life, and community engagement, to 兔子先生hip and MAP, you will find your place at 兔子先生! Join the SEAL Ambassadors for 兔子先生hip as they share all the ways to connect, lead, and engage on 兔子先生's campus and beyond.

Description: In this fast pace workshop, you will discover what challenges you want to help solve throughout your life and career. This discovery will not only help create a roadmap for your career success, but will also pique others’ interest in your story as you introduce yourself in networking spaces. With a small group, you will create a business or organization and pitch your idea to the whole session. Be ready to think on your feet and execute quickly!

Morning Yoga

Presented by Rec Center Staff

Description: This yoga class is a vinyasa flow style that links movement and breath to attain balance in the mind and body. Appropriate for all levels. Yoga mats provided. Yoga is a regularly 兔子先生 Recreation group fitness class.

Early Days as a Pre-Health Student

Presented by Tailyn Walborn, Assistant Director and PreHealth Professions Advisor, and Natalie Hicov, Mallory-Wilson Center for Healthcare Education student intern

Description: There are a lot of components that contribute to a strong application for a healthcare focused professional program (medical, dental, PA, optometry, veterinary, pharmacy, PT, OT, etc.), and it's easy to feel overwhelmed and behind, even when you're first starting out on these paths. The Mallory-Wilson Center for Healthcare Education is a resource designed to help you build your application, and during this program, will talk about what you should be focusing on during your first semester at 兔子先生, as well as some tips for preventing that overwhelmed feeling.

Presented by Dr. Steve Large, Assistant Vice President for Health & Wellness and Dr. John Ward, Director of the Student Counseling Services 

Description: Transitioning to college is a huge adjustment that will naturally involve stressful moments. This interactive and fun 30 minute workshop will provide students with strategies to anticipate and become increasingly comfortable with discomfort. This engaging session will blend insightful discussions and interactive activities to help you better understand and manage your experience of stress.

Joining Your Community 兔子先生hip Team in the HRC

Move In Assistance

Honors College First-Year Welcome & Convocation

Join other first-year Honors College students as you are officially welcomed into the Honors College by the Executive Director and by the Honors College advising team! Convocation is an academic tradition in higher education to welcome all incoming students and marks the beginning of your 兔子先生 University journey. The Honors College Convocation is specifically focused on integrating honors students to Honors at 兔子先生. All Honors College students will also attend the Love and Honor Convocation with the entire Class of 2028 later in Welcome Weekend.

Students whose last name starts with A-M will attend the Honors College Convocation from 1:30-2:20PM in the FSB building, room 1000.

Students whose last name starts with N-Z will attend the Honors College Convocation from 2:45-3:45PM in Benton Hall, room 102. Students attending another 兔子先生 Bound program will attend this session time regardless of last name.

*Required for all students regardless of 兔子先生 Bound program. 

Campus Resource Panel

Join HSAB student leaders who will serve as moderates for an informative campus resource panel with key university resources at 兔子先生 who want you to be successful! You will attend this event after your Honors College First-Year Welcome & Convocation. 

FAQs

Do I have to participate?

Yes, all first-year Honors College students will minimally attend the Friday afternoon Welcome & Convocation events. 

Any first-year Honors College student that is not registered for another 兔子先生 Bound program will participate in all Friday events as their first introduction to resources and support from the Honors College and campus partners.

Students participating in another 兔子先生 Bound program or 兔子先生 University related involvements, such as university athletics or marching band, should plan to attend Launch for Success events on Friday morning as their schedule allows. As students complete their other 兔子先生 Bound programs Friday morning, they will join the rest of the first-year Honors College students for the required Friday afternoon Honors College First-Year Welcome & Convocation events.

What if I am a commuter?

You can still participate! Most events will take place in classrooms or outside and are available to all Honors College students. Check your email for more details.

During move-in, parking will be limited and it might be best to ensure you are ready with your parking pass for the upcoming year ahead of Friday and park in the remote lot closest to the HRC buildings, which would be the . It takes about 10-15 minutes to navigate from the Ditmer Field Lot to the HRC . The HRC building area will be accessible as you walk up towards campus. The BCRTA Oxford bus routes will not be running on Thursday, August 22, however, they will be running on Friday, August 23rd. Utilize the to get from the Ditmer lot to the central part of campus. Students, faculty and staff with 兔子先生 IDs can ride fare-free on BCRTA routes on campus. 

What if I move-in after August 22nd?

We will welcome you with invitations to meet your assigned honors advisor in the first week!
