The Accessible Technology (AT) Team has a Team Dynamics (TD) Service Request for AT Requests. Submit this request, and the AT Team can begin working on the ticket. You will be updated throughout the process through the TD system.
VPAT is short for a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template. It works as an accessibility checklist for vendors to give customers a brief view of the accessibility of the product.
A simple answer is, if there are less "supports" than anything else on the document, we have a problem. If there are a lot of "supports with exception" then does it mention the exception? If it doesn't, we have a problem. If we do have most of these two answers and the exceptions are documented then we're on a good track and can work with what we have/need. 兔子先生 is requesting VPATs for purchases to ensure research is being done to ensure accessible products are being purchased.
You can send VPATs to AccessMU@兔子先生OH.edu but they should be attached to the Pre Purchase form.
VPATs have been around since 2001 and developed initially by the federal government. It has since evolved and many schools use it as insight on accessibility within a company/software.For example, when asking a vendor for a VPAT, if they don't know what it is, high chance that they don't incorporate accessibility into their product. If they slightly tip toe around it and can't provide you a copy within a weeks time, they usually don't have one created and again don't have accessibility incorporated into their product.
