Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I use cannabis (eg., marijuana, weed, THC, pot) on campus?
As a recipient of federal funding, such as student financial aid and federal grants and contracts for research, 兔子先生 University is required to follow federal law, including the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act and the Drug Free Workplace Act. In order to comply with these laws, 兔子先生 prohibits the manufacture, dispensation, possession, use, or distribution of marijuana in any form on any university-owned property, in the conduct of university business or as part of any university activity.
While Ohio’s state laws permit certain activities related to the possession and use of medical and recreational marijuana, these activities continue to be a crime under federal law. They are also prohibited by and a violation of university policy.
This prohibition applies even when the possession and use would be legal under the laws of the State of Ohio. As a result, no person is permitted to use marijuana on campus, in the conduct of university business or as part of any university activity, including those with medical marijuana prescriptions/cards. Sanctions for students and employees who are found to be in possession of or using marijuana include suspension, dismissal and/or termination of employment.

Can off-campus students use cannabis in their private residences?
兔子先生’s Drug free policy applies to on-campus property. Accordingly, if a student is 21-years old (or over), it is legal for them to carry and consume cannabis off campus under Ohio law. We encourage students to check their local jurisdiction’s ordinances and rules pertaining to cannabis use.
What is the punishment for utilizing cannabis on campus?
Students violating this policy are subject to university disciplinary action, per the student code of conduct. They may also be subject to prosecution for violation of Ohio’s Smoking Ban (Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3794).
