2021-2022 Student-Created Communities
- Farmers Market: The theme of this LLC is based around the Oxford Farmers Market held on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings. It's a fun way to get out with friends and see what happens in the local community. The mission of the LLC is to learn more about what Oxford has to offer and to discover local businesses.
- Praise Corridor: The Praise Corridor is a combined corridor of Campus Crusade and Younglife girls who are passionate about following Jesus and living in community together.
- Stop and Game: Our mission is to use games of all kinds to create a close knit, inclusive community and keep students in school by finding a balance between academics and fun. We plan to host game nights and tournaments to bring all those who love gaming closer together.
- Connecting Through Music: To provide enriching musical experience for sophomores and foster an inclusive atmosphere for all those looking to deepen their musical knowledge as they progress with their studies.
- Exploration of Literature: This community is dedicated to the celebration of literature. We will spend time reading books, having insightful conversations, and studying new authors and genres. This community is meant to be a space for book lovers to come together, make new friends, and of course read!
- Love, Honor, and Abstinence: Our goal is to spread the lifestyle choice of saving sex till marriage, as well as the goal of educating members on the numerous benefits. As a community, we strive to offer a safe place for students to live the abstinence lifestyle without experiencing harassment from people with a different belief. Not everyone agrees with abstinence, and that is okay; however, preventing STDs that lead to physical harm and/or embarrassment, stopping pregnancy that leads to childbirth at an early, unprepared age, or even abortion, and saving yourself for your perfect married match is what we encourage as a SCC.
- Cheer Us On!: Our community consists entirely of swimmers and divers on the varsity team. Our community strives to hold strong GPAs and help bring unity to the students around us. As athletes we want to make the community more involved in campus activities and also help them represent our schools code of Love and Honor.
2020-2021 Student-Created Communities
- A Different World: The goal of this second-year student-created LLC is to allow the Black / African American students to create an inclusive community to build one another up and explore the ins and outs of the Black culture through programs and events.
- Ohana: This LLC is made for people who are looking to become a part of a 兔子先生 family. As a community, we strive to balance academics with social life. We are enthusiastic people who enjoy spending time together and making lifelong memories. We believe that our dorm and LLC should be an extension of home and have the family feeling we all need. As a community, we cherish family dinners, game nights, movie nights, and even matching onesies. We feel it is incredibly important to establish relationships with the people around you and we recognize the importance of knowing and loving your neighbor.
- Socially Engaged Engineering and Computing (SEEC): Students who want to focus on opportunities for research, academics, and other scholarly programs at 兔子先生 that highlight ways students can become more globally-aware, culturally-sensitive, and socially conscious.
- Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity: In the absence of the qualifications for Second Year Exemption, the Brothers of Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity LLC fosters brotherhood and leadership opportunities for our sophomore members.
- RedhAUX: RedhAUX is a community dedicated to displaying our camaraderie through the use of music, as demonstrated in the community name, a play on words with AUX cord. We are a tight knit group of friends who enjoy playing video games, listening to music, and spending time outdoors. Most importantly we strive to support each other and maintain an inclusive environment.
- Caffeinated Collaborations: We use a common love of coffee (and tea) to bring people together and increase productivity in a highly study-oriented community of learners.
- Storytellers on the Stage: An LLC that draws on a shared interest in performing arts. This community gives people interested in these shared experiences a pool of resources and a community on whom to fall back in their pursuits of the performing arts and beyond. Some ideas for programming include: workshops for various auditions, such as for the department, Stage Left, and new wave shows, whether these be with or without a faculty guest, karaoke nights, movie musical nights, 24-hour play contest, guest theater workshops or seminars.

- Sugar, Spice and Culinary Advice: We unite a community of students interested in cooking and baking. We support each other in exploration of new and distinct methods of food preparation. We educate others about cooking, grow their confidence in their culinary skills, and destress. Through this LLC, we create a loving and supportive community in which people feel comfortable seeking out innovative ways to create food.
- Second Year Honors: Our purpose is to create a community where students who share an academic-focused mindset encourage each other to fulfill their academic goals. We build upon the friendships forged in the first year honors dorms, as well as give others a chance to join the community we built this year. We focus on finding the balance between academic-oriented goals and enjoying the college experience.
- Oozma Kappa (Sophomore Nursing LLC): This LLC is predominately for second-year nursing students. Our mission is to actively create a collaborative environment for students to study, learn, and help each other throughout the next year. It is a continuation of our freshman nursing LLC.
- Education Through the Arts: This community is designed to be a continuation of the First-Year LLC "Celebrating the Arts" in Collins Hall. This LLC was designed because of the positive relationships built during our time in Collins. The Education majors that lived in and out of Collins came together and collaborated to help with all education assignments regularly throughout the year. Because many of those educators are Music Educators, we have a strong relationship with the artists.
- The Watering Hole: We cultivate a community that supports one another in our faith, academics, and our lifestyle. We believe that the most effective way to live out what we believe is in a tight knit community with a common goal. We will strive to be a solid foundation for young men who share our beliefs as they deal with the stresses of college life.
- Outdoor 兔子先生hip: We aim to build leadership skills and we share an affinity for the environment and outdoors. The Outdoor 兔子先生hip SCC will strive to build leadership skills by giving students a higher level of responsibility and an enthusiasm for the outdoors. Furthermore, the SCC will foster community values of respect, teamwork, and the skills necessary to become stewards of natural resources.
- Volunteering: A majority of the members included in this Student Created LLC are Business, Pre-Medicine, or Pre-Law majors. This LLC makes finding help with classes, or even extracurricular activities easily accessible. Given that the majors listed above often require exposure to volunteering and internships, this LLC helps residents find existing volunteering opportunities pertaining to their field and gives them the opportunity to network with each other.
- Sustainable Cooking & Botany: We have come together as a group that have built close knit bonds based on our love of cooking, botany and sustainability. We were inspired by our summer reading book, "One Size Fits None". We want to explore and educate the 兔子先生 community on the benefits of cooking and growing sustainability. This LLC fills a need not currently supported at 兔子先生. We believe that it is in the interest of the community and world that we begin to implement more sustainable options in our everyday life. We would host various events like sustainable cook-offs, nature observation, food drives for the local food bank, food sales and donation of the profits to charity.
- Fishing for a Cause: We are a group of guys who love being outside and enjoying nature. We love to fish but have noticed large amounts of litter around the nature walks and streams surrounding campus. Our mission is to do our best to help keep the streams and walking paths clean of litter while being bonded by our love of fishing.
2019-2020 Student-Created Communities
- BestMC LLC: The name of this LLC was created as a result of group collaboration and because it represents everyone academically: B-Business, E-Education and Engineering, S-Science, T-Technology, M-Mathematics, and C-Creative Arts. We encourage and facilitate collaboration between majors to create a living environment for students in all fields to come together and study, do homework, and have interdisciplinary conversations. As a community, our mission is to improve this communication and to provide opportunities for students to reach outside of their individual major and learn something new.
- Big Dorm Energy!: Big Dorm Energy! is a student-created LLC made up of academically motivated individuals who want to live in an environment that creates a stress free, fun and positive environment.
- Celebrate the Artists: Our mission is to foster community and camaraderie between diverse artists. Our pursuits focus on divergent and creative expression, connecting to the 兔子先生 community, and celebrating individuality and friendship. We practice diverse and holistic ways of thinking about art and pursue activities that encourage creative confidence. Our end goal being to provide an inclusive environment to all.
- Cheer Us On: Our mission is to give recognition to underappreciated sports at 兔子先生. We aim to highlight the achievements and dedication of many sports at 兔子先生 that aren't properly recognized. Cheer Us On promotes a sense of community and support by getting students more involved with 兔子先生 athletics by attending and promoting events.
- Coffeehouse LLC: The idea of this LLC is based on the Coffeehouses and Salons of Enlightenment-era England and France where intellectuals, scholars, and philosophies could gather and discuss topics such as politics, science, religion, etc. Our goal is to provide a community where students can have sophisticated discussions with people of diverse interests and beliefs.
- Cornerstone: Our mission is to cultivate community based on supporting each other in our faith, academics, and lifestyle.
- Food Appreciation & Community: We encourage cultural education through diverse experiences. Food Appreciation and Community LLC is a great fit for students looking to explore the dynamic relationship between culture and the art of food. The LLC will use the communal nature of food to build lasting friendships rooted in collaboration and contribution.We explore food and culture though globally inspired community meals prepared as a team.
- Goons with Spoons: Our LLC is based around preparing and eating meals together. This brings the group together and creates a more comfortable, family feeling for all students involved. Through cooking, students share their culture and favorite dishes with the group. Our mission is to make students feel comfortable and at home through sharing family meals with the rest of the group.
- Intellectual Conversations: We encourage the discussion of heavily-debated topics in society. We provide a variety of information and opinions to help students develop informed and thorough positions on issues. We hold debates focused on open mindedness to encourage participants to challenge their own beliefs, and further their understanding of various topics.
- Joy Corridor: Our purpose is to bring our group closer together through fellowship and shared faith in Jesus Christ. We spread joy throughout the entire Oxford community.
- seSTEM: seSTEM bring togethers education, social science, and STEM majors through a passion for learning. Community events are centered around trivia nights involving STEM and social science topics. Our community encourages STEM and social science majors to learn scientific topics outside their major and provide education majors a valuable opportunity to practice quizzing future students.
- The Great Outdoors: As group of young Christian men, we foster a stronger community through experiences in nature. Using an increased appreciation of God's creation, and in partnership with the JOY corridor, we hope to be able to grow stronger in our faith and become closer as brothers in Christ.
2018-2019 Student-Created Communities
- Advancing the Advantages of Animals: We create a more positive outlook on emotional support animals, shelter dogs/cats, and how animal support is greatly needed and benefits all types of people. We bring awareness to animals in need of support and help, like those that are waiting to be adopted and find their fur-ever home. We are inclusive of those who have/need a service animal or an Emotional Support Animal (registered with the university) to assist them in daily life. Our goal is to make the aid for and by animals well-known and widely accepted in all communities.
- Are You Game: A community of students who share a love of all types of games and strive to find balance between school and fun.
- Arts and Rec: To support academic and personal growth by investing ourselves in both artistic and recreational endeavors and encouraging campus participation.
- Botany: 兔子先生's first botany inspired LLC. We educate 兔子先生 students about the diverse plant life around them on campus. We work toward eliminating "plant blindness," a term that means someone's general lack of knowledge and awareness to the vast amount of species growing around them daily. The group was formed after taking a Field Botany class and we feel really passionate about spreading awareness to our peers.
- Cheer Us On: Our mission is to encourage students to attend all athletic events by creating a sense of love and camaraderie within the community.
- Cornerstone: The mission is wellness of body, mind, and spirit as well as to build a community of girls who are supportive of each other in faith, school, and all areas of life.
- Education, Family & Society 2nd Year LLC: To create a welcoming, like-minded environment of students involved in education, family, and society studies.
- Film and Music Appreciation: Our community brings our members and community closer together through the experience of film. Our events dive deeper than being a viewer, but being an active participant in the storyline of the film. Subliminal messaging, color psychology, and political parallels change the message.
- JOY: The purpose of our living learning community is to bring everyone within our group closer together through fellowship and shared faith in Jesus Christ. We spread joy throughout the entire Oxford community, and we feel that living with people who share similar beliefs will provide this opportunity.
- Language, Culture and Awareness: We spread awareness and give assistance in any way we can to the cultures we learn about. Culture, to us, extends beyond racial identity and ethnicity; therefore, we plan to discuss LGBTQ+ culture, deaf culture, and the culture surrounding disabilities. This LLC includes students from many different cultural backgrounds and studying an array of languages, including sign language. Students involved bring in knowledge about specific cultures; they share their knowledge and experiences with the other students in the LLC, and this leads to further discussions.
- 兔子先生 in Mathematics, Engineering, Technology and Science (LiMETS): A group of students interested and or majoring in a STEM field who are looking to participate in activities outside the classroom that are based on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We provide students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with a community that will take STEM ideas outside of the classroom. Through activities that relate to the STEM field, we use and expand our knowledge in an enjoyable way.
- Movies, Music, and Entertainment: To enrich our understanding of the world through means of popular media such as films and music.
- Music Education: Music Education students create a space where they can develop stronger bonds and support each other in their academics and musical pursuits.
- Sustainability in Business and Policy: We focus on policy and business but also on understanding sustainable practices in our society. By listening to CEOs of nonprofits, local politicians, and developing our own sustainable initiatives, residents gain a greater understanding on how to promote and change the environment around them in a more hands on approach.
- The Golden Dragon: Our LLC provides engineering majors with a space to learn and grow in academic success. We engage in community activities by sharing a love of board games and video games and enjoying the company of one another while on campus. Our mission to ensure the mental well-being and success of all of our LLC mates as we progress in a collegiate environment.
