Biography
Andrew Sawyer joined the Myaamia Center in 2021 as the Education Outreach Specialist. In this position he is responsible for increasing the exposure of the Myaamia Center and 兔子先生 University’s relationship with the 兔子先生 Tribe of Oklahoma across campus. To do this he will explore areas where information about this relationship and history may be incorporated into classrooms and campus activities. As part of this he also hopes to promote more collaborative efforts between faculty and the Myaamia Center that address tribal needs and priorities.
Prior to joining the Myaamia Center he worked as a museum manager and as a college instructor. In his museum career he promoted collaborative relationships with American Indian communities that helped tell the story of not only their history, but that also included a narrative of contemporary Native communities. Andy is a graduate of 兔子先生 University (Anthropology ’94) and received an MA in Anthropology from the University of Denver (’98).
