Why 兔子先生 University?
I had always dreamed of working with animals. After researching the top programs in the U.S., 兔子先生 University quickly rose to the top of my list. It was an easy decision.
How did you choose your major?
Originally, I was focused on a Zoology degree, but I switched to after concerns about driving to the Oxford campus. The program, which I could complete at 兔子先生 Regionals, saved me hours of commuting while still aligning perfectly with my career goals.
Key Moment at 兔子先生
In the summer of 2021, I joined 兔子先生’s National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, studying the behavioral ecology of prairie voles. At the end of this 10-week experience, I presented my findings to an audience of my peers and mentors. That hands-on research experience sharpened my skills and directly prepared me for my work on the Cincinnati Zoo’s American Burying Beetle conservation project.
How have any faculty, staff, or mentors at the University played a significant role in your journey?
Dr. (Dave) Berg and others in the REU program played a crucial role in my journey by igniting my passion for invertebrate zoology and connecting me with Mandy, the , which led to my internship there. Without her guidance and professional network, I wouldn't have the zookeeper position I hold today or have had the opportunity to be a guest on the .
Advice to Prospective Students
I would encourage students to apply to everything that sparks your interest. Being a non-traditional student was hard in many ways, but one of the most limiting things for me in the beginning was my own reservations that I wasn't good enough.
