Do you enjoy expressing yourself creatively or communicating with others? The Arts, Communication, and Humanities Career Community help you gain relevant skills for various careers. This degree teaches you to think critically, with a historical perspective, communicate effectively, and develop a broad understanding of our world.

Community Arts and Cultures

We don’t like stereotypes, so our art degree isn’t stereotypical. Our degree is open to not only artists, but also those with a passion for culture.

If you are an art maker, there’s ample opportunity to spend long hours in the studio painting or the black room developing film. There’s also the opportunity to make a difference in your community through art—its creation, engagement, and unifying spirit.

Our degree combines courses in creativity with those in history and criticism and those in communication, community development, business management, and organizational leadership. If revitalizing a town through artistic projects or running a gallery is on your radar, our  degree should be too.

You will study the use and meaning of messages across various context, and choose special areas of focus to prepare you for career opportunities in Public Relations, Marketing, Event Planning, Journalism, Sales, Government Communications or even further study in Graduate School.

Health Communication

 is the study and practice of "communication strategies to inform and influence individual health-related decisions that enhance health" (CDC). Ultimately, health communication aims to improve the quality of life and public health. Understanding the role of communication in influencing individual health decisions and overall health outcomes is a crucial skill that prepares you for a variety of careers.

Grounded in an integrative understanding of the relationship between theory and praxis, the program emphasizes human identity and diversity, quantitative and qualitative research competency, 21st-century communication skills, and public advocacy.

This program can be completed entirely online.
