Enhancing Caring Communities: A Toolkit for Organizations to Better Support Caregivers

Choosing a program to support caregivers based on the gap you identified

Now that you have assessed your organization and identified a gap between what your community’s caregivers need and what your organization currently provides, you can focus in on one area of interest. Your goal in this part of the assessment is to select a specific caregiving program or service area to work on within your organization by considering these questions:

  • Do we have enough data on caregiving needs in the community?
  • Have we comprehensively examined our current caregiving support/service approaches?
  • Do we need more information to refine our gap analysis?
  • What evidence-based programs are available to our organization?
  • What have other organizations done that have filled similar gaps?
  • Are we focusing on the best program, including strengths and weaknesses?
