The following preliminary data were compiled by the Office of Institutional Research and the Office of Enrollment Management from a variety of sources, including: the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), ACT Student Questionnaire responses (from the Admissions Office), student applications, and the Office of the Registrar. The information on this page refers to incoming students on the Oxford campus only.

Student Demographics

Did you know . . . 

  • 51% are female; 49% are male
  • 57% are from Ohio; an additional 9% are from the contiguous states of IN, MI, KY, PA and WV
  • Nearly 13% are ethnically multicultural; an additional 8% are international
    • 88% of the international students identify themselves as Asian
  • 31% graduated from a private or international high school

Academic Credentials

Did you know . . . 

  • 34% of the first-year students graduated in the top 10% of their class
    • 8% graduated in the top 1%
    • 74 incoming first-year students were ranked #1 in their class
  • 56% have transfer credits (e.g., AP, PSEOP)
  • The average credit received is 17 hours.
  • The average ACT score is 28; 29% scored a 30 or higher and 38% scored a 29 or higher

Course Breakouts:

  • 51% are taking ENG 111 (Composition), compared to 63% of first-year students in 2013
  • 20% are taking a 100-level Chemistry course
  • 31% are taking a 100-level biological sciences course (BIO or MBI)
  • 27% are taking Calculus (I, II, or III)
  • 31% are taking a foreign language
  • 11% are taking at least one Honors course (either HON or H-level)
