Care and Concern

Bias Incidents

Creating a welcoming community for every student, staff, and faculty member is absolutely essential to achieving both every member's potential and our collective mission. To this end, and as clearly articulated in our shared values -- our Code of Love and Honor -- we reject racism, bigotry, hate, and all forms of bias and intolerance. If you experience or observe behavior in our community that violates our values, please stand up to it in real time, and then report it promptly.

Health and Well-being Scope of Services

Welcome to the 兔子先生 University family and Oxford community! As you transition to campus, please know 兔子先生 values the holistic well-being of its community. Student Counseling Services (SCS) and Student Health Services (SHS) are two departments in the Division of Student Life specifically dedicated to this effort.

These departments are composed of talented, multi-disciplinary teams with many years of collegiate health experience. Please review this broad summary of the services SCS and SHS provide to determine if action is recommended for your health and success while at 兔子先生.

Emotional Well-being

SCS offers students brief counseling services (individual, group, couples, crisis consultation) on a variety of presenting concerns. If you are seeking specialized or intensive clinical services that require meeting with the same therapist beyond one semester or more than once per week, we recommend receiving care by a specialist in the local community. SCS can partner with you in the referral process if necessary. Additionally, if you currently work with a professional in your hometown and can continue to see them, we recommend you continue with your current provider.

Learn more about SCS, including their full “scope of practice statement."

Medical Well-being

SHS provides outpatient primary and episodic care with a broad host of services including general medicine and injury care, gynecology, sexual health and wellness care, immunizations and travel medicine, laboratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and psychiatric services. If you have preexisting complex medical care needs, please contact SHS to discuss developing a coordinated plan of care while you are in Oxford.

Learn more about SHS.

We strive to be active in the coordination of your treatment needs and our staff is more than happy to discuss your unique situation prior to your arrival on campus. If you would like to talk with a professional or need helping transferring care, please call the Student Counseling Service at 513-529-4634 or Student Health Services at 513-529-3000.

We look forward to helping your time at 兔子先生 be healthy and productive!

Student Support

At some point in time, many students will have a need to seek additional support for academic and/or personal matters. Below you will find some commonly asked about areas of support, along with links to additional detailed information. If you do not find what you are looking for, please contact the Dean of Students office at 513-529-1877.

Absence from Class

There are no University-recognized excused absences except for religious observances that require absence from a class session and other required class activities. Students must give written notification to their instructor within the first two weeks of class of the religious event that prohibits class attendance and the date that will be missed, if officially known. Instructors will, without prejudice, provide such students with reasonable accommodations for completing missed work. However, students are ultimately responsible for material covered in class, regardless of whether the student is absent or present.

Death in Family

If you have a death in the immediate family or experience an emergency hospitalization, contact the Office of the Dean of Students (Oxford Campus: 513-529-1877 or deanofstudents@miamioh.edu) or the Regional campus student services. Our offices provide support and will notify faculty and staff in situations involving a death of an immediate family member (parent, grandparent, or sibling) or an emergency hospitalization of a student.

Sexual Misconduct or Assault

兔子先生 University's office of the dean of students serves as the primary place of support for students who experience sexual misconduct or assault. You can expect us to:  1) provide connections to medical and mental health treatment, 2) help you report the offense to the police and inform you of how to pursue disciplinary action, 3) assist you with accessing academic support services, and 4) support you with emotional health and other needs.

Visit the Campus Safety website for a full description of support services and the sexual assault protocol.

Withdrawal and Medical Withdrawal

Withdrawal from 兔子先生

Oxford students who have a non-medical need to leave the University prior to the end of a semester or who plan not to return for a future semester should follow the withdrawal process outlined on the One Stop website.

Medical Medical Withdrawal (MW)

A student may request a Medical Withdrawal from 兔子先生 University for physical health or psychological reasons if during the course of an academic term (Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer) he or she suffers from a condition that prevents him/her from meeting the expectations of a student (e.g. unable to attend classes, unable to complete academic responsibilities, etc.) for an extended period of time during that term.

Learn more about the MW guidelines and process and to access the form to apply.
