ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University's Men's Club Soccer Secures 2023 NIRSA Men's Open Division Championship with Stellar Performance and Faculty Support.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University's Men's Club Soccer clinched the 2023 NIRSA Men's Open Division Championship with an undefeated record and a remarkable concession of only three goals throughout the competition.

The team had strong representation from the College of Education, Health, and Society with two Sport ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉúhip and Management (SLAM) majors, Alex Ball and Pete Strawbridge, and two Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health (KNH) majors, Will Byorth and Agustin Gonzalez. The team's head coach is Darrel Davis, the Acting Chair and Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology.

Adding to their game plan, the team collaborated with SLAM graduate student Lauren Chapman to enhance their mental approach to matches. Lauren is studying sports psychology, and this partnership proved part of the winning formula on the team's journey to the national title. ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University's own Noah Hjelmeng was selected as the tournament MVP.

Congratulations to the team and their coach on a successful season! It's a great example of how faculty support goes beyond the classroom.
