What is the difference between the university and divisional ceremonies? (May only)
Students walk across the stage and have their name read at the divisional ceremony as this is the ceremony where undergraduates and Master's degree students are individually recognized. The university ceremony is for all students to attend, but students will not walk across the stage and have their name read at it. The university ceremony is where the main commencement speaker will give their remarks, doctoral candidates will be hooded, ROTC students will be commissioned, and each division will stand as a whole and be recognized by their dean. It is completely optional, but many students attend it so they can spend additional time with friends and family.
Where can I find a schedule for a specific area of study’s ceremonies?
Date and times for each academic division’s ceremony are available on the commencement website.
Will the ceremonies be live streamed?
Each ceremony will be live-streamed from . You will access the YouTube May 2022 Commencements playlist and then find the divisional ceremony that you want to watch. You can share this link with friends and family that want to tune in.
How long do the ceremonies last?
The main ceremony is expected to last 90-120 minutes. Divisional ceremonies typically last around 90 minutes.
