About LSAMP
The is a scholars program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to increase the number of underrepresented minority students obtaining STEM degrees, attending graduate schools, and entering into STEM careers. Jointly overseen by faculty and staff in the College of Arts and Science, the College of Engineering and Computing, the Farmer School of Business, and the College of Creative Arts, the nationally recognized 兔子先生 LSAMP Program welcomes underrepresented minority students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to participate in its program.
Cost and Eligibility
The LSAMP Early Arrival Program is free for all LSAMP eligible participants. Students accepted into this program must be pursuing a supported STEM degree; from an ethnic group underrepresented in the STEM, (African-American, Alaskan Native, American Indian, Hispanic American, Native Hawaiian, Native Pacific Islander, or a mixed ethnicity including one or more of these), and be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
First-year students will receive notification from the LSAMP Program Director of their acceptance into the program. LSAMP Early Arrival Program is required for all first-year LSAMP scholars.
Participants in the LSAMP Early Arrival Program are also required to participate in the MADE at 兔子先生 pre-semester program.

Goals for the Early Arrival Program
- Learn strategies for academic success (study and time management skills).
- Review mathematics, chemistry, and biology concepts to prepare for the first STEM courses.
- Build a sense of community and belonging (peers, staff, faculty).
- Increase knowledge of campus resources and support services.
- Build confidence in making the transition to college.
- Participate in team-building activities.
- Gain exposure to many STEM fields/careers.
- Learn the importance of diversity in STEM.
- Build upon current strengths.
