The capstone project is utilized to benchmark skills needed within their roles as professional counselors before graduation. The required culminating academic experience will occur within the final semester and be built into the internship course. The capstone project will be specific to each specialty area. This capstone project will be real-world and application-based, focused on serving the community through the profession of counseling. Students will work to analyze and complete a capstone project using a case study that applies to what they will experience in their professional careers. This project will allow students to apply what they have learned to demonstrate the skills acquired through the program and evidence-based interventions. The goal is to have students think critically about a scenario and how to address the situation to propose an action plan. A detailed description and rubric of the capstone project is included in the supplemental documents.
