Academic integrity is an integral part of the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú community and the Code of Love and Honor. ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University is a scholarly community whose members believe that a liberal education is grounded in qualities of character as well as intellect. We respect the dignity of other persons, the rights and property of others, and the right of others to hold and express disparate beliefs. We believe in honesty, integrity, and the importance of moral conduct. We defend the freedom of inquiry that is the heart of learning and combine that freedom with the exercise of judgment and the acceptance of personal responsibility.

Academic integrity is a partnership between the instructor and the student. As instructors of courses, our role is to facilitate learning and to provide you with clear guidelines and feedback to help you maintain your academic integrity. Your role is to take responsibility for your learning, to complete all assignments honestly, and ask for clarification. Academic integrity is more than “just not cheating”, it involves maintaining good habits and practices for doing your academic work.

Academic dishonesty is defined as engaging or attempting to engage in any activity that comprises the institution's academic integrity or subverts the educational process, including as a means to complete or assist in the completion of an academic assignment. Academic dishonesty includes but is not limited to cheating, plagiarism, fabrication, unauthorized collaboration, misrepresentation, and gaining an unfair advantage.

Any suspected academic dishonesty will be handled under ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University’s Academic Integrity policy for either undergraduate or graduate students. Please review this policy and note that a lack of knowledge or understanding of the appropriate academic conduct is not an excuse for committing academic dishonesty. Instructors are obligated to address any suspected academic dishonesty and report this to the department chair. Students can also report suspected dishonesty to the course instructor where the dishonesty has occurred. Students should review the Graduate Academic Integrity guidelines on the University's website.

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú University’s student code of conduct is intended to foster and protect the free and open exchange of ideas. Students are responsible for reviewing the Code of Student Conduct on the University's website.
