General Function

Performs a variety of very complex administrative and technical tasks related to producing special events. Directly supervises classified staff.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities—Essential Functions

• Oversees student staff; schedules employees and assigns tasks; monitors and evaluates performance.
• Determines needs and priorities of groups; designs appropriate light and sound effects.
• Assists in department expansion, renovation, and funding projects.
• Performs a variety of administrative duties including purchasing and assisting with public relations efforts.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Acts as a liaison for department, serves on various committees; represents University at external community functions.

Reporting Relationships

Direction Received: Reports to Director of Business Services, Hamilton.

Direction Given: Direct supervision of classified staff. May also supervise student employees.

Minimum Requirements

Requires an associate's degree in Theatre Technical Arts and four years of lighting/sound experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Knowledge of lighting and sound system, creative ability
• Ability to read blueprints and electric diagrams

Working Conditions

Continuous standing and walking, frequent climbing, and lifting of materials weighing 50 to 75 pounds. Some exposure to unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable and involve an element of personal risk.
